Foundations in Heritage (2011-2015)

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Carmarthenshire County Council, Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the National Trust.

The Foundations in Heritage Bursary Scheme was a programme which delivered heritage building skills training to 55 students across West Wales.  It supported them through the study of their NVQ3 Heritage Plastering, Stonemasonry or Carpentry whilst they were placed with specialist Heritage Companies in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

This Scheme held 2 conferences to investigate the Future of Heritage Construction in Wales and the Conference report is can be read here.  The conferences highlighted the need for continued training of craftsmen and women in Wales in heritage craft skills.
