Experience Heritage Building (2016)

Experience Heritage Building (2016)

This project was a heritage construction skills short placement programme funded by Cadw.

The project provided 7 students with a 3-day heritage construction induction programme, followed by 4 weeks of hands-on construction experience with either the Cadwraeth team or at St Fagans.  Students were then given the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 Award in the Repair and Maintenance of Traditional (pre 1919) Buildings.

All students were unemployed at the start of the programme, with more than half coming from disadvantaged groups or areas.  All participants enjoyed their time on the programme, with 2 securing employment within the Heritage industry and a further 3 reporting that they had used their heritage skills in the workplace following the end of the work experience programme.

The evaluation of the programme can be read here.
