Advice

Old buildings face many challenges in today’s environment, not least from inappropriate use of modern building materials and pressures to save energy.  The Tywi Centre can provide you with written information about how to look after old buildings, but we are also happy to signpost you towards research, specific advice, material supplies and a database of contractors provided by other organisations.  Look at the Advice links that we have provided, or contact us if you have a query that isn't addressed here.

If you are looking for a traditional builder have a look at the Welsh Traditional Buildings Forum Contractors Directory to find a builder in your area.

Projects

The Tywi Centre is celebrating a special milestone this year. It is 10 years since we opened a traditional building skills training and education centre and a CITB approved training organisation in Llandeilo in the heart of the countryside in rural West Wales.

Over the last decade we have built up a UK wide reputation for being experts in supporting the protection of historic buildings of Wales through delivering training, education and information by experienced and knowledgeable tutors to all custodians of old, pre-1919 buildings across the nation. This includes, but isn’t restricted to, listed buildings.

We are now extending our range of courses to home owners, local authority officers and other corporate caretakers of historic buildings, construction college students, building contractors, architects and surveyors.

Case studies & Testimonials

100s of people have received training and education through the Tywi Centre over the last 9 years.  The following are just a selection of people who have benefitted from this training, and, armed with their improved knowledge have gone on to look after the old buildings of Wales.
