Advice

Old buildings face many challenges in today’s environment, not least from inappropriate use of modern building materials and pressures to save energy.  The Tywi Centre can provide you with written information about how to look after old buildings, but we are also happy to signpost you towards research, specific advice, material supplies and a database of contractors provided by other organisations.  Look at the Advice links that we have provided, or contact us if you have a query that isn't addressed here.

If you are looking for a traditional builder have a look at the Welsh Traditional Buildings Forum Contractors Directory to find a builder in your area.

Projects

Over the years, the Tywi Centre has secured funding from a range of partners and grant programmes to deliver projects that support traditional building skills and the conservation of historic buildings. These initiatives have enabled us to provide training, qualifications, work placements and specialist skills development opportunities for homeowners, contractors, apprentices, students and building professionals.

Through our funded projects, we have helped address heritage skills shortages, supported career development, and equipped people with the knowledge and practical experience needed to repair, maintain and protect traditional buildings for future generations.
